Welsh Water is a not-for-profit company which supplies fresh and wastewater services
to most of Wales as well as parts of Western England. Across its region it provides
services to around 1.4 million households or 3 million people.
If you have a water meter and three or more children under 19
living in the property or someone in the household has a medical condition that
means you use more water, this tariff can cap your annual bill at a lower rate.
If you have been struggling to pay due to your household
income, HelpU can provide support by capping the amount you would have to pay
for water over the year. The current annual charge for HelpU is £250.
Welsh Waters Customer Assistance Fund is designed to provide
support to those facing sever financial hardship through clearing debt and
helping you get on to of your payments. If you can keep to an affordable payment
plan, 50% of your debt could be written off after 6 months, with the other half
being written off after another 6.
Welsh Water offer loads of priority services for those who
just need a little bit of extra support. The services range from advanced notice
of supply interruptions, moving your water meter if it’s hard to access,
agreeing a password so that you are confident that it is Welsh Water calling,
providing bills in easier to access formats and agreeing to speak to a nominated
person if you find it difficult speaking about your own account.
